This melody got it’s fame after Hirsch Glick wrote to it ’Jewish Partisans Song’ (Yiddish, Vilnyus ghetto, 1943). His song was translated into many languages. (Even Paul Robeson performed it in his Moscow concert). After the war, learning about Hirsch’s song, Dmitry Pokrass confessed that his melody was based on the Yiddish song ’Oifn Pripechok’.
Another use of this melody was made by Georgiy Dveynikov, Alexandr Xodozhnikov and Sergey Tsenin. They used this melody, together with ’Stenka Razin’ and ’Shiroka Strana Moya Rodnaya’, for their song, praising yhe Pappanin’s expedition to the Pole.
